I feel like that wasn’t the intention of his comment, it was more like “I can’t decide what you do with your life, but we ended up in the same ship and you are under my command, therefore while I’m present I don’t want to see signs of your bigotry.”
Still ST is a bit misogynous every now and then so it is a bit hypocrite but it is a really old show, it was almost impossible to make it not misogynous.
I do like how new ST actively criticizes the failings and archaic aspects of old ST. I remember Janeway saying that if Kirk and the others were in their time, their actions would have gotten them kicked out.
