There are a lot of “Shit X Says” communities now, which inevitably leads to quite a few cross-posts and makes people less likely to see others’ comments (e.g. someone comments on a “Shit Liberals Say” post, someone else on the “Shit Fascists Say” version of the post, etc.). It might be a good idea to just have one “Shit Reactionaries Say” community, either by creating a new one or by repurposing the most popular one (SLS), and then setting the other communities to only allow mod posts (basically read-only).
Thank you for coming to my TEDxLemmygrad talk. Proposal co-authored with a second mysterious tankie

Addendum: may be a good idea to also have one community for ultra-leftists separate from the one for general reactionaries.

Yes, I think this is a good idea. It takes forever to check each cross-post for comments, and they all essentially have the same content, just coming from a different category of people, so they should be one community in my opinion.

However, we don’t want to lose all the current content and such. I think the easiest way to do this is probably to set all the S*S communities to Mod Only, remove all the current mods and replace with one or more admins, make a new SRS, and then put something like “Pursuant to People’s Court case https://lemmygrad.ml/post/475170, post content that would’ve gone here in <insert link to SRS> instead” into the sidebar and in a pinned post.

One thing to watch out for in future might be people who want to mod the merged group. They might set up a new community knowing/thinking that it will be closed and merged so that their mod status is transferred over to the main merged group.

I’m unsure if this would be part of the plan for new communities of this sort, but we should guard against creating a way for wreckers, etc, to get mod powers over a large community. Just a thought.
