Idk 2 if the person doesn’t want to move makes sense to be able to easy carry them or drag them.
If apart from not wanting to move they resist to movement a third one is helpful I guess.
That said they can be just 3 and take turns picking 1 at a time. Although probably more is better but not need strictly then 3 per person.
It might also help avoiding multitudes joining them that weren’t on the original group.
