Interesting episode. I felt the series had finally picked up the momentum it needed for me to like it last episode. It didn’t lose it this one which is good. Still there was some weirdness in the directing of some parts. The final act though was rather good I thought. Curious to see what they’re doing with Hari.

Yea me too … it definitely felt like two episodes were mushed together or something … which I’m fine with. There was an odd “off” feel to the whole episode which is I think intentional … no one knows what’s real and the episode was hinting, I think, at that we don’t quite know what’s going on. Obviously certain things were false images created by the mentalics. But I feel like there were hints at schemes within schemes here??

spoilers for S2E06 (ie this one)

Otherwise, I’m not entirely sure if Hari (or this version of him) is actually dead. I think they set it up to indicate that he isn’t with the whole conversation between Salvor and Hari about why he was made human in the first place and it not being clear. Salvor’s best guess was that someone thought he should have “some skin in the game”, but Hari seemed unconvinced. Plus, there isn’t much he can do against mentalics, so it seems off. But on the other hand, the flashback to his origin story seems to have been intended to increase the impact of his death.

Hari being biological (and thus able to be read by Tellem) was his only possible avenue toward convincing her to ally with him in creating the Second Foundation. Whoever resurrected him knew that the Mentallics would be key to this phase of the plan, and a holo-Hari would only have been seen as an enemy.

Ha yeah I was like “this is very Lost of them to give a flashback and then kill him.”

And I don’t think you need to spoiler tag anything that happened in the episode as long as it’s in this post… I could be wrong, but there are no mods present to even confirm this. I’ve dm’d them asking if they need help.

So presuming you haven’t read the books, how are you finding the show in general?

I love sci-fi. Stories can get weird and go in odd directions and I’m often fine with it, as long as there’s a bit of logic and good writing/acting/directing. I haven’t looked into the books or how much the show has deviated, because every time I do that, I get let down.

Overall it’s a fun show. I enjoy the palace intrigue on the Empire side, and I love the Gaal/Salvor dynamic, hopping from planet to planet.

If I’m following this right, Tellem put Hari through an execution so that she could pull his oldest secrets out of him. Whoever gave him a body knew that holo-Harry would only make her put up her defenses and shit them out completely, but baing able to read a vulnerable (ie, biological) Hari would show her that he and the Foundation are not a threat, but her best chance to protect the Mentallics from Empire.

So probably she’ll pull him out and form an alliance, because she knows now that he does not wish them harm.
