Hi everybody! If you don’t know me, I’m Zoe. I’m a 23 year old trans girl from the US.

To encourage more development of this community, I would like to ask if anybody here is interested in moderating it and helping it grow.

I am going to devote more time to it personally as I think it’s super important we have a vibrant trans community here :) but I’d also like to engage other people who are here!

Please send me a message or comment on this post if you would like. Thanks! uwu

(Note: Below, I listed some ideas for additional types of content/discussion we could have here, but I don’t want to give the impression that I am trying to start up projects nobody has time for. It’s just to put the ideas out there, which any of us could riff on or pick up whenever we actually do have time.)

I guess we could also work on knowledge production/information dissemination.

E.g. making things like this (“Toward A Scientific Analysis of the Gay Question”) or making analysis/summaries/infographics of things like that.

I’ve noticed many people on other subs here are not necessarily informed about trans healthcare, especially trans youth healthcare, which causes them to have certain doubts about it (which seem to be rather easily cleared up once they become informed). I think creating simple info posts about that kind of thing aimed at fellow MLs could potentially have a good effect in answering such common questions/doubts.

I think we are also in a good position to make nuanced, non-transphobic exposures of imperialist pinkwashing techniques and imperialist-backed NGOs that misuse trans (or general LGBT) rights movements in socialist and anti-imperialist countries in order to create propaganda against the countries and create internal instability. This would take a lot of research but I think it could be a source of producing our own news here.

We could also investigate into trans (or general LGBT) movements going on outside of the imperial core and study their local cultural and historical context. For example, researching what happened in the past in Cuba, why it happened, and researching what led to the new Family Code discussions, reading through Cuban media and comments about it, etc.

We could also look into the science innovation side of medical transition.

Although this is a separate issue from trans rights, I think we could also promote intersex rights and do genuine research into the needs of intersex people and see how we can promote intersex points of view. I say this because (1) trans and intersex people share certain social, legal, and medical issues, (2) I often see intersex people frustrated not only by the invisibility of their oppression, but also by many trans people having only a cursory understanding of intersex issues which leads to bad misunderstandings between our communities which nonetheless have certain overlaps and links (and of course there are also intersex trans people having to deal with this).

I realize we are all busy and can’t dedicate all of our time to research and writing essays on such topics but I still wanted to state these ideas in case any of them might be good for this community. I would be glad to hear feedback or criticism on this and I want to stress again that I am not trying to actually start up an overly-ambitious project here and now, but just speculating on what could be possible.

There’s a ton of good ideas in here. Thank you. Basically everything you listed would be great here. I might compile all of this into a new post of it’s own
