You definitely can get into degeneracy if you searched far enough into it in Douyin, the AI is mainly based on your search history.

I thought the AI was purely based on the content you watch on their own app
It’s based on your search history in the app and what you liked in the app etc, and there have been speculation that they share data across apps from the same parent company but nothing confirmed it, not your entire phone that’s an actual spyware
