I recently joined a local neighborhood group page on fb, and after that I decided to scroll through my feed of friends’ activity. It was the worst user experience I’ve had on social media in a while and I used to use the official reddit app for two years until recently switching to Infinity. They make promoted and “suggested” content look like the actual content by people on your friends list so I have to constantly check where the content was coming from. There’s no way to turn off the suggestions either.

True. Haven’t used it in years, because the content is just straight garbage. Reddit and Twitter comments are unhinged and mostly low quality, but there’s some value there occasionally. Facebook even years ago was just the lowest of the low, most ignorant and straight up stupid, racist, reactionary boomer fucks. And because pretty much everyone I know has stopped posting there a long time ago, it is nothing but clickbait headlines and infuriating boomer comments anymore.

Yeah, at least on reddit there are subreddits that cater to things I’m interested in and I can get good information from.

I feel like a techy hipster for saying this but fb is simply too easy to use. That’s why boomers use it. Reddit and especially Lemmy require you to navigate a more complex UX.
