I don’t know, pointing to his (ultra-)nationalism doesn’t seem like a pro-Russian narrative based on the variety of sources and him dropping it over the years seems more like a play to gain more mainstream support. I don’t know if he’s a Western asset or not, but I really liked his team’s effort of flying drones over Putin’s secretive compound and him going to Russia, knowing what would be waiting for him was ballsy as fuck. Contrary to what a lot of people here seem to automatically assume is that a lot of people who don’t buy the NATO Ukraine narrative aren’t fans of Putin or Russian imperialism either.
