I found this deleted tweet of some guy legitimately trying to argue that bombing Russian cities is the next logical step. Now while this one was deleted, his timeline for the last 13 hours has been nonstop warmongering and calling for direct attacks on Russian citizens.

Serious question: Are these people even human? Not to sound like some reptilian conspiracy theorist, but are there really functional adults out there who believe that bombing civilian populations is just going to magically stop the war? That Russia isn’t going to retaliate?

I genuinely want to coin the term “war fetishism”.

    Hear me out…

In fetishes like BDSM, etc, you’re aroused by the IDEA of that thing happening to you, and while you may roleplay and pretend, you presumably don’t ACTUALLY to be chained up in the sex dungeon of an ACTUAL psychopath. And with things like fetish porn, you very much have a pretend scenario designed to show what the user wants to see, not what would actually be realistic.

Similarly, of all these people drooling over the idea of war, approximately none of them ACTUALLY want to face the horrors of war. But they love the idealized movie-esque idea of war. Not saying they get a sexual attraction to war, but the mental mechanics are likely very similar

The volunteer fighters in Ukraine are a prime example of this. Was all gung-ho to go to war, right up until they actually faced the kind of hell on Earth war actually is.
