My entire adult life the fucking assholes have dominated through their politics of fearful, ignorant and selfish greed and successfully convinced the majority of voters again and again that the best economic prescription is the worst of America’s trickle down economics and that all of society’s challenges can be best tackled with a combination of paranoia and xenophobia and constant suspicion that everyone in need is riding some kind of fucking gravy train.

It’s made us mean, unequal, and in many ways materially worse off and while we’re a small player we have also helped to make the world a more dangerous place than it had to be with wars of adventure and racist dog whistling.

The idea that a day would ever come when they’re finally seen for the malign influence they really are had begun to fade. I really hope this article is right. I thought their reckoning was coming much sooner and have been bitterly disappointed that they still succeeded when their records should have spoken for themselves.
