I’m pretty sure there are like several solid linux desktop widgets thst do what you want but I don’t even bother because I have conky setup with wttr.in lol
This is technically backwards. It should be if income growth had followed inflation, the average income should hsve been ~$300,000 by now.

This is a toilet thought, please ban me mods.

Is that just a weird Kali logo or is it a modified kali distro lol?
I’m messing with making a kernel softmac driver that can handle Nintendo specific 802.11 frames so that MelonDS can connect to a real DS or to another device using the native Nintendo wirelesss protocol.
Lot’s of interesting reading and packet capture fun with Wireshark has given me an idea of where to start, but the tricky part is that the DS needs less than 20us of round trip latency for it to work, which is insanely low. Otherwise the connection is considered interrupted and gets dropped.
afaik, the only part that “verifies” the latency are ACK frames which the DS expects a return for every frame transmitted, so it should in theory be possible to just make a small driver that generates ACK frames at kernel priority, and forwards the rest of the frame to MelonDS for actual game handling.
I’m hoping it turns out that easy but the MelonDS forums have a long ass thread about how much of a PITA the DS wireless multiplayer timing synchronization requirements are.

KingOfRandom :/
Just didn’t feel the same without him

I like how out of all of the answers in this thread, no one said high volume traffic.
Almost like a gated city has a ton of people going in and out all the time hauling trade, materials, technology, etc.
If only there was some way to prevent making a bottle neck of traffic and ensuring that large structures can also pass through the wall when needed.
I remember when youtube basically only had one format and I’m pretty sure it was 240p lol.

Would bet cash money these people have never touched even a basic stats lib/module in their life, let alone pytorch or tensorflow lol.
I kinda wanna see some funny ISP/Cloud outage that only breaks connections to model providers to see how entrenched people and services have become with AI.
Imagine rolling into work and the office is in flames because ChatGPT is down.

Same government that assassinated journalists at home and abroad for barely exposing the army.

Anyone have the one where it’s all vim lol?

Yes, they come from the same mine in Pakistan. They process it into lamps, animal licks, rock salt, fine salt, etc from the same source.
Just clean the surface with a wet cloth to ensure there’s no residual dust/debris and you can shave away. It probably won’t yield even size grains, but you can use it for whatever you like.
it’s more for a joke example though, much easier to just buy the salt.
That all being said, the ones from Pakistan are not usually coated in anything after raw production, so if its from an unknown source, you might want to check if the seller maybe added some spray on agent to protect the salt, although I really don’t see any reason why they would do that.
And don’t buy any pink salt that says “made in India”. That money essentially funds some PMLN crooks who thought it would be funny to kneecap Pakistan’s agriculture export market by banning sales to any broker except themselves, of which they heavily undersell to India who then makes profit and shares it back only with them.
EDIT: For everyone saying “not food grade”, the only difference is that it wasn’t quality tested for ingestion. That doesn’t mean the salt isn’t edible, it’s just not tested for that purpose. The mined salt rocks are the same for everything, only difference is size to be sold to each factory. I checked and apparently some sellers do coat the lamps with a protective gel for shipping purposes, so you would want to wash that off first.
implying most romance media is realistic
Yes, people got mad at me for pointing out the land use for data centers is also minuscule compared to any suburban development.
That doesn’t make it any less of a concern, but one of the major issues of data centers is that they are bypassing costs by unloading them onto average citizens. They don’t want to pay taxes and higher costs for energy and water so they offload electric costs onto everyone else and then abuse the water supply to avoid making a closed loop system.
I keep quoting the exact stat wrong, but most of the world’s freshwater goes into agriculture and farming.

I am late to this thread but I upgraded from my almost 20 year old DS Lite with an R4 card to an AYN Thor which I genuinely recommend since a good quality New 3DS may run you about the same money. Go for 3DS if you have friends who still use DS/3DS.
Skip the 2 screen thing
No need, AYN proved your entire idea with the Thor with both screens as AMOLED. The base model is going for $330, so its absolutely possible. I would even bet it could take a solid chunk of the Switch 2 library despite a weaker GPU, and it can definitely do Switch 1 games and lots of Steam games.
The one downside with Thor is that there is no DS/3DS wireless local multiplayer (yet) because of latency shenanigans which is something I actually want to work on but haven’t had the time to do. The upside tradeoff is that you can play modern steam and switch games on it as well, both in Android and Linux (Rocknix). It is a very well made console despite the smaller audience of 3rd party consoles. And community is actually decently sized with lots of cutsom launchers, themes, addons, styluses, cases, etc.
Nintendo had some of the greatest technology in their hand with stuff like streetpass and download play, yet they threw it all away for the Switch era which effectively killed the handheld multiplayer scene. I think I only used my switch in local wireless multiplayer once ever. Everything else was either smash bros or split screen mariokart. As you said, it’s just a home console that’s portable.
This might sound dumb, but I don’t want to see current Nintendo pursue a proper handheld again because I know they are not capable of doing so in the same manner that the DS and 3DS was successful. They have been making absolute bank on Switch and Switch 2 sales despite paywalling stuff that used to be included for free in the DS/Wii era and removing the core essentials of what made those consoles so good.
They could have easily repurposed those ideas for their mobile games, but they didn’t. Instead we just got more paywalled slop despite having access to new tech like NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi Aware, gyro in every phone, etc. Even Pokemon GO was a 3rd party reskin, not a Nintendo original game.
A proper successor to the 3DS could absolutely shred the market, but I just don’t see Nintendo doing it correctly.

Fill in the blank with any EU country after shaking hands with France lol
Try Micro which is apparently based off of MicroEmacs lol
It’s 2026 and Android MTP is about as stable as the US economy was in 2008 and Apple MTP is literally just a turd wearing a trench coat with the apple logo slapped on.
God forbid I want to transfer a file over a USB cable at USB cable speeds like a normal adult.
