I tried to post it again but the link doesn’t seem to be working. Is it your own website?

This year I might sell the rest of intel / nvidia chains on my neck and embrace the pain of fiddling with wifi drivers 90s style

🤣 😀 🙂 😐 🤔 😢

I might have to actually do it, oh heck

The moment when you order food to go and ask for NO utensils – they put it in your bag anyway

Bonus: staff refuses to take the utensils back because after you simply looked at them, they’re already “used”

woah, you’ve put so much effort in this reply, it worth to publish it as a separate post 😅

great points! 👍

Yeah, it works but as of now requires to rewrite few hundred lines of python to connect to Lemmy API

I was hoping to find an easy guide to generate a simple GCal / CalDav link or ICS file from a post. This way one doesn’t need to write/test/deploy/maintain code and could use it right from the get-go

I’ll link the guide to this reply once I come across it

Any idea how to craft links to create an event in calendars?

would be useful to discuss the prediction once more, when the time in question comes

The biggest factor is the knife

If you have a knife of appropriate shape and sufficient sharpness, you wouldn’t even notice the pungency. While sharpening focus on the tip since it does the main work

is it an instance run by a bulgarian?

I’m scared for atlantic ocean now. This gang might dam it and tax the world for using it

I mean, of course gallery of a phone going to be littered with household stuff. All good photos of you and your family should go to the appropriate storage directory.

Instead, mobile device storage is very well suited to temporary photos that are not scary to loose. One has to keep in mind that photos of value on the phone will be irrecoverably destroyed in case of phone malfunction/drowning.

Don’t forget to make backup, kids

I’m sure there are dozens of various tools for compressing images but I personally use simple kim5 plugin for dolphin context menu

Other honorable mention in case dolphin is not your cuppa tea: Trimage

I've been wondering about these questions for a while now but the docs were scarce. 1. Does loading an image (cache/thumbnail) from external hosting takes up any server storage? If so, is it cleaned up when original image deleted? 1. Do (internally hosted) "orphan" images (not linked to any post/comments) get deleted? 1. Any recommendations for image hosting? Preferably freemium+donation based, open source, able to keep spinning until end of times -- all that jazz 1. In relation to creating posts on lemmiverse: any hints for streamlined workflow uploading images to external hosting? (bookmarklets, scripts, custom frontends) 1. Are there any promising Lemmy initiatives for optimizing storage usage? Got any questions of your own about image hosting? Let's hear it

For oldies looking for something the same but different but still the same try LunarVim

It’s “hard” to install but easy to fall in love

Wow, thanks for figuring it out! Hopefully the info will make it into more official guides for fediverse

I would like to learn the skill of personal inquiry – so I would be more informed about person’s circumstances

I would like to make a habit to imagine the circumstances vividly and appreciate the experience as my own

Reasoning bias: self interest

If you manage to live on horseback and learn the nomad life style you might even become a part of golden horde army: benefits all around

Simply cut a hole in the bottom and you're done. Easy way to do that is to heat up metal bottle cap on electric stove and gently pressing plastic bottom on it

Huge precedent albeit a worrying one. I hope Mr Rochko will take notice and make additional adjustments to the licence – so a paid service wouldn’t be able to encroach on his labour.

This study must be sponsored by manufacturers of miniature car models 😅

That’s how vim users (including me) hope to look like when working in front of Windows users 😅

Just an FYI: you can post stuff on lemmy and boost your own lemmy post on Mastodon

Ain’t urbanisation made fertility drop tho? Like raising a child in the city is bloody expensive while in the country extra child is spare hands for work

Thank you, I appreciate this sentiment. I think every article talking about RISC-V should state clear that it’s not truly open – same way article about CPUs must include a disclaimer that Xnanometer fab process is a lie marketing term.

However, at the end of the day, when my 15 y.old phone dies from the old age, I would like to replace it with more open hardware i.e. vote with my own wallet for openness. I can’t wait RISC-VI that will open up more of its design – when it does, i’m gonna buy a second phone, rpi or anything that can sell me

Currently RISC-V is our champion. For now gotta stick with it and to make it more mainstream before raising the bar of openness.

For now I just wanna be able to convince my friends and family to spend their hard earned cash into more open CPU ISA without making their lives unnecessarily difficult

Yes, Android is not truly open, yes, RISCV isn’t truly open either. However, both projects made a significant step into good direction and I would like to reward them for that

At this timeline there’s no true Scotsman – except mr. Stallman. For some reason he’s not a household name yet. Gotta go one step at the time, shall we?

I mean, sure, no problem, risc is already supported by Linux. What’s left is billion dollar corporation to make it mainstream (pray the lord, oh mighty st Gabe 🙏)

But while the lord is at work, one gotta be able to install banking apps, offline maps and all other apps optimized for mobile.

Despite my deepest support for Linux on mobile, personally I can’t port for mobile every app each of my friends and family use

The topic is quite interesting but the vid, although beautifully edited, is light on content.

The interviewees briefly mention few applications of the aerogel but no concrete examples unfortunately.

Does anyone know where to find more info on the topic?

btw, just to let folks know – there’s a similar community from our federation friends !Videos@nrsk.no

I really would like to take this video seriously but I can’t. The author proposes radical idea; assumes that the idea is real and raves on and on about instances of the idea he deems appropriate.

he keeps trying to scare the viewer with these instances without actually proving that the idea has something to do with them.

This one prompts for lots of meta questions:

  • what’s the message for this show? What does this show achieves?
  • who’s the audience?
  • is it the content we want more of?
  • is it good? Meaning does it bring some sort of value besides entertainment?
  • what can be said about me if I do enjoy this sort of content?

I’m curious but unsure. Does anyone care to share their experience with the show?

One can’t fail a plan if you revise it fast enough

*Feeling a bit upset to contribute to this a little*

Basically every time I want to post at some random community over the federation, the post creator uploads the pic to beehaw, not to the receiver instance 😞

I really wish I could see and be able to clean my own junk…

Unlike in SU, where the housing was indeed really affordable, you might even say “free” (as in “beer”, not as in “freedom”)

Works well on mobile too 👍 You'll never look at yoggie posts the same 😏

Let’s include approx duration in title
Sincerely, user who's opening the link just to check how long the vid is Great vid recommendations by the way. I love it. Thank you
