Totally agree. Check out wefwef.app if you haven’t already. You can add a shortcut to your homescreen so it opens and looks like a native app (which closely resembles Apollo). If you need help with that, let me know.

Not even joking, I use this nickname for her frequently.
It’s broken. Some people are saying it’s a lemmy issue and not specific to this app, but I don’t have this problem when using wefwef.
Only nitpicking this because I have a family member named Millie. If you shorten Mildred, it would be Milly with a “y”
Millie spelled like this isn’t short for anything, it’s the full name.
Kbin looks way too much like the latest version of Reddit that is over designed and cumbersome.
Plenty of third party apps popping up for lemmy with Apollo like UI/UX that is much better (like wefwef or Memmy for example).
Yeah I’m curious if all the people in the comments that say they are using and enjoying it also have friends that signed up or if it’s just all meme accounts.
What is there to do? Is it just meme accounts or did your friends start using it too?
I mostly use instagram to interact with IRL friends and follow some meme accounts, so I’m curious what this app even looks like if my friends aren’t on it.
I always find articles like this very odd because the cost of living can be so drastically different in different areas of the US.
Like, this headline makes sense to me if they only interviewed people living in California or another state that is pretty expensive to live in.
How do I find and interact with things inside the fediverse but outside of lemmy? Like mastodon for example. Do I need to make a mastodon account or is there a way for me to see and interact with it using my lemm.ee account?
Yeah I’ve heard it’s a lemmy issue, but it didn’t seem to affect wefwef luckily.
I was just getting an error trying to comment yesterday when I tested the app out for a couple hours. Not sure if it’s still happening today, I’m just sticking to wefwef for now since it seems to be a bit more stable and isn’t lacking any features that I’m looking for.
Really? Reddit app sucks but Memmy won’t even load my communities or let me comment.
Wefwef’s web app is better than Reddit’s native app though.
Yeah that makes sense. I have no problem using wefwef for the time being until these other apps iron the kinks out.
Yeah, it doesn’t work a lot of the time. It also let me log in but says I don’t subscribe to any communities (which is wrong) and doesn’t show many any communities when I use search.
Man I’m in my 30s and still do bunny ears to tie my shoes. Never really learned the “correct” way. My shoes do come untied a lot so maybe it’s time.
I have way more bugs on Memmy. I can’t even reply to most comments in that app for some reason. Wefwef can be a little finicky but smoother overall for me.
Honestly, they probably like the feeling of “power” (as sad as that sounds) that comes with moderating a community as large as theirs on Reddit.
I love that the it emphasizes that this is a joke and you should absolutely not do this and then lists a bunch of steps that are basically “set up your own instance and be an awesome administrator!”
I’d say that’s probably true for most younger people in the US as well.
There are obviously exceptions though. I like to golf and it’s (unsurprisingly in the US) normal to tip the bag guy at the end of a round that wipes down your clubs and cleans out your cart, so I keep cash on me that I handle somewhat regularly for that. But really that’s the only thing I can think of that I use cash for these days.
I’d assume some people also prefer to use cash when traveling to other countries since (in the US at least), using your debit/credit card in a foreign country can accrue significant fees.
I’ve just always been this way. I will catch myself going to wash my hands going from room to room in my house sometimes, but even I think that’s weird when I realize I’m doing it. I unapologetically wash my hands after handling anything like mail or packages as well. Might be slightly OCD in that regard. On the plus side, I didn’t get COVID until a few months ago for the first time.
True, which is why I prefaced about the nitpick
