Local and state elections are important, but presidential campaigns can bring attention to third-party issues that are often ignored by the major parties. Building from the bottom up and the top down simultaneously strengthens the movement and shows that third parties are serious about representing the working class at every level of government.

I’m hoping that the higher profile and positive support that De la Cruz’s campaign is getting, lets them focus on other elections after this election passes.

Again, I think you’re underestimating them. These workers and voters are educated, smart, and fully aware of the stakes—they are doing what they want to. And I support them voting for whoever they want to vote for. As I support you voting for whoever you want to.

The idea that a third party isn’t a real choice under FPTP is a tactic used by the ruling duopoly to keep people feeling powerless. If we dismiss third-party candidates, we’re only allowing the same two parties to hold a monopoly on political power.

Real choice comes from breaking free of this system and standing up for the alternatives that truly represent us.
