From what I understand they cannot run ads on NSFW subs, I would fully expect pushback from the admins on that. If not now, then in the future.

It might be but they’ve been doing a lot of these round ups lately. I think it’s partly a way of recapping their history as they get ready for PoE2 and partly for marketing, since there really isn’t much going on.

I do wish they would trickle feed more PoE2 info, but it seems they’re saving it all for Exilecon.

I’m definitely curious if we’ll return to old areas.

It would be fun to have some recurring memes in the new campaign too, a new Dread Thicket, a golden hand and some eyes.

I do wish PoE had something similar to the secret cow level in Diablo, it’s been fun watching everyone theory craft and trying to find the new secret in D4.

Well it seems the admins are now forcing subs to open, at least based on pics, steam and piracy. Piracy is taking it as an endorsement from the admins that they want piracy on their site. Pics is now John Oliver pics only, and Steam is now discussions of actual water vapor.

If you’re not planning on closing forever, why not just open it now in restricted or limited to specific tangential posting similar to other subs; rather than mirroring the data just to have it available.

Reddit is in an interesting spot. The blackout cannot continue or they start losing advertising dollars. And they cannot risk pulling a twitter and having an unmoderated site or they’ll lose advertising dollars.

The larger Lemmy instances like Lemmy.world and Beehaw are decently active. This instance is discoverable from them, but there are only a small handful of subscribers from each, PoE is too niche for non-PoE players.

This instance could grow with some work though. There’s nothing on reddit that ties PoE players to it outside of just historical momentum.

I’m not tied to reddit personally, but will obviously go wherever the activity is. I do find the growth of the federated social media to be fascinating though, and think it’s a good alternative to reddit.

There is also the cloaked man with glowing blue eyes in the trailers. If this is the Beast maybe he’s associated with Sin somehow.

I think everything is up in the air for now and we will see what happens.

Many users have moved on to various Lemmy instances or kbin, and various subs have different plans. Some have also moved, so PoE is not alone in it.

As of now I know a handful of subs including some large ones like r/videos plan to be permanently private. Some others have made new versions on the Federated networks and are planning on continuing to use them. Or will move back to reddit.

I expect the reddit admins will start to replace the mods of any private sub with whatever power hungry admin-aligned person they can find. Probably handing over power to a power-mod that already has all the largest subs.

Saying things like this is a lose/lose for you. Either Belton approves of it and it’s a huge loss for his reputation, or he doesn’t and you’re defending someone who doesn’t even like you.

Saw your comment on whitelisting Kbin before the sub went private, which is great to hear it’s where I originally registered.
As a note for any users who may want to register on Kbin, it’s having cloudflare issues with connecting to Lemmy servers though so Kbin users will have to wait until that’s resolved or just register a new account.

I was thinking that perhaps it’s a Hammer, Arrowhead and a Staff or Wand to represent the attributes, but they appear in a different order from the classes in the old logo.

The PoE and old PoE2 logo had Marauder, Witch, and Ranger in that order. Maybe they put the dexterity representation at the top because it looks more symmetrical?

Also I have to say this new logo looks so much better than the old one.

Tough to say. There is supposedly going to be appearances for each ascendancy, but with how much new dialogue with different voices has been in this trailer and the prior, they might’ve done 7 new classes for the new campaign and the new ascendencies or have done a complete overhaul of the existing classes.

The ascendencies may also tie into the classes more, like how Chieftan fits into the Karui background, maybe this guy is a Maraketh version of the Chieftan or Templar with Maraketh themed ascendencies.

It’s an interesting setup. Each instance can act like their own version of reddit, and have their own communities or “subreddits” to divide up the instance, or each instance can act like their own subreddit to the greater lemmy community. Since it’s possible to connect to other Lemmy instances, if the instance you belong to allows it, you can create an account here and then go to other instances to use their gaming community. It can also connect to non-Lemmy federated content like Kbin and Mastodon.

The weird part here is that there can be fracturing. There could be a PoE community on Kbin, there could be a PoE community within Lemmy.ml, or Lemmy.world, and there could be a dedicated PoE instance here made up of multiple PoE communities.
