Ich habe mich schon ein paar mal gefragt, wie dieses Szenario aussehen könnte. Denkt ihr Business as usual? Weil das Vertrauen der Entwickler und vieler Communities hat Reddit und /u/spez (fu) verspielt, auch wenn sie jetzt zurückrudern würden.

Bin gekommen, um zu bleiben. Finde es super spannend die Entwicklung von Lemmy bzw. allgemein des Fediverse mitzuerleben. Reddit fehlt mir als Community für den aktiven Austausch kaum. Was ich aber sehr stark durch den Blackout merke ist was für eine wahnsinnig wichtige Wissensdatenbank Reddit über die Jahre geworden ist. Habe mich jetzt auch schon selber ein paar mal dabei ertappt, wie ich Suchergebnisse für reddit anklicke und dann auf der Sperrseite des Subreddits lande. Es wäre schade, wenn dieses Wissen verloren geht.

Mir fallen zwei Möglichkeiten ein.

1. Meine Familie hat ein paar Hühner im Garten. Eier von dort würde ich theoretisch essen, aber ist auch schon ein paar Jahre her, dass ich das mal gemacht habe.
2. Allgemein gesagt: Wenn etwas auf jeden Fall im Müll landen würde. Habe jetzt kein konkretes Beispiel dafür. Aber das ist für mich absolut moralisch verwerflich, wenn Lebensmittel im Müll landen. Es kommt aber auch sehr stark auf den Einzelfall an. Zum Beispiel würde ich ohnehin kein Fleisch, Fisch oder Milch konsumieren. Da bleibt dann halt auch nicht mehr viel übrig. :D

I think you have a important point here. Muscle memory or let’s say habits is what people will bring back to reddit.

This was basically me with Twitter and Mastodon for some years. In the end it was my decision to leave Twitter with all the shit show going on there with Elon Musk. And I have similar thoughts with reddit. Even if they give us back the API and we would still be able to use Apollo or another favorite client, it is only a matter of time before they screw up again. Dear readers here, you should have this in mind. The Fediverse is here to stay and you can be a part of it and help to shape this whole thing. But for reddit you are basically just a target for advertising.

Sure. It wasn’t a decision against Linux per se. I was considering whether to get a computer with Linux again or a Mac. In the end, the deciding factor was that Apple had released the M1 Macs at this time and I was just really curious to try them out after decades of Windows and a few years of Linux.

No. I had Manjoro for some time and then Linux Mint as daily driver. But nowadays I use Linux exclusively on the server side privately and professionally.
