I love that sense of isolation here!
I like this - made me want to find out how you did it
Appreciate that! Was using my Sony a7iv. I had these really thick thermal gloves on - I’m from South Florida and it was freezing. I’d recently switched to all-manual shooting and couldn’t quite manipulate the dials (especially ISO). I was ill-prepared overall to be out there and having wet pants after falling through made the rest of those shots even more fun…lots of wind off the lake!
Oh man, thanks! I picked up photography to have something to do while going around with my daughter (now turning 3). I’ve really been enjoying it. Capturing her doing her thing has gotten me used to quick framing and camera settings to keep up with her crazy kid movements, hah. I wouldn’t post her photos online but it’s almost all her and then 5% stuff like this!
Wow, thanks! I’m new enough that anyone liking a photo is quite exciting, hah.
I respect the restraint - I tried one of these the other night and I had big fingerprints all over the glass from drinking while I waited for sunset!
Wasn’t aware of this technique. Is that to give it more of a ‘waxy’ look?
Interesting! Was this taken from a ridge or something? Feels high up
Reminds me of that shot from Gladiator, hah. Really nice!
Ooooooh. Thanks! I searched and there were surprisingly few places to discuss photography, so I went with one that seemed to have lots of cool photos. Plenty to learn about this thing : )
I have zero real idea how the fediverse works yet, so I’ll take what I can get!
Wow, love the mountains there! I use Flickr myself, but a trick I’ve been using to get Lemmy to display a thumbnail / direct photo link is:
-Open Flickr in desktop mode (force in your mobile browser settings if on your phone)
-Choose Share
-Choose BBCode tab
-Copy the link for ‘Original’ and then copy just the portion with the url for your image to paste into Lemmy
