I think you’ve never worked in software, or even used software, if you think paid close source apps don’t have issues like this. They can be worse because they’re written by interns and no one there actually cares, they just want their paycheck

Are you suggesting they wouldn’t have to take time off if they walked to the school, then home, then back to work?

I don’t get it. You end up with ancient packages and have to install ppas to get modern tools, or write code that can’t take advantage of modern tools and have to do workarounds

I don’t know how you deal with non rolling releases on your machines you actually use for work. By the end of the lifecycle all the tools are ancient
