  • I’ve never noticed it being bad on the Huge, so I guess so? I don’t particularly like the buttons on the Huge, but I’d say they’re unremarkable on the whole. The Huge also has horizontal scrolling via tilting the scroll-wheel, which I miss on the m505b. I can reach all the buttons on the Huge well enough, though I find the right button gives me a bit of hand strain if I have to use it a lot. The m505b (mine is ProtoArc branded, fwiw) buttons are really excellent, it’s really, immediately noticeable how nice they are. The activation pressure is much lower, but not so low that you’d do it accidentally and they’re really nicely positioned. If I could just take the tracking and scroll-wheel from the Huge, it’d be perfect. Both of these trackballs do just about everything better than the Kensington trackballs, though I do like the Slimblade’s twist-to-scroll feature, even if it does strain the wrist a bit.

  • So I got what I believe is a rebadged m505b and for the money, it’s great. However, the motion of the trackball is noticeably not as good as my previous Elecom Huge and it isn’t significantly cheaper. I wanted to move to bluetooth though, and the only good bluetooth Elecom trackball is about twice the price and not readily available in the UK (the Elecom Deft Pro).

So definitely a good deal, but if bluetooth functionality doesn’t matter to you, I’d go with the Elecom Huge. The buttons on the Nulea are much nicer and it’s a more comfortable shape for my hand, but the ball movement on the Elecom more than makes up for those differences, imho. Both are better choices than the Kensington Slimblade and Expert Mouse though.

  • Duke Nukem 3D, absolutely no question whatsoever. The first game I played that had environments that aped real life and had real life levels of interaction detail… Light switches, CCTV cameras, so much incidental detail and environmental transformation. No other game had done that to the same extent before then and I’d argue that no other game has done it since!
