Yes file access through the network and the web (https or something better).
I understand that a self-hosted Nextcloud istance is still my best option.
I will restore it but in the mean time also try some of the other suggestions here.
thanks

Well I may have tinkered too much with my server.
I have no real problem with Nextcloud, I have been using it for the last five years.
I have been hosting it on a RaspberryPi3 and well the machine isn’t the most powerful out there.
So taking advantage of this sudden break I have been looking for a serverless alternative.
ipfs was my initial idea too. It being not private is a drawback tho
You can choose refuse things from the folder/drive and you must always configure in each computer individually like the nextcloud sync client.
I was missing this feature.
I’ll read more carefully the documentation then.
Tank you
Uhm I understood that Syncthing works by copying folders between machines and keeping them synchronized.
Now, what I was looking for is a software that records that, say, machine A has a file, tells that to machine B and retrieves the file only after an explicit B request.
Does Syncthing do that?
Ok I’ll take a look at it. Thanks!
Uhm what I meant is this:
Say I have a file in machine A. This software should be able to tell to machine B that A has the file and retrieve after an explicit request from B.
Probably my wording wasn’t the best.
I hope now it is clear what I was trying to ask :-)
This is very close to what I was looking for.
I am going to try this and Tahoe-LAFS for a future extension of the service to a small local network.
Thanks for the suggestions
