I feel a repairability criteria needs to be added. We know the fair phone will top it always.

There is a whole world out there and most MKBHD viewers aren’t even from the US. Also, MKBHD reviews plenty of phones that aren’t available in the US like the zenfones.

Zenfones are available in the US. They’re just usually released later then the rest of the world

I didn’t see the video, but what were the categories? Anything the fair phone could win?

My understanding is that the phone uses decently old tech.

Thanks! Would it legitimately qualify for any of these awards?

          Maybe most improved?

Probably MVP, but it’s a US awards show. It won’t include EU exclusive phones obviously.

Don’t think so. MKBHD doesn’t really test repairability so that’s probably why it isn’t a category.

Maybe design award, he talks about how everything is the same but was impressed with the Magic V2 because of it’s thinness and how it manages to cram a larger battery than other foldables. While that’s impressive, I don’t really think it’s groundbreaking. I feel repairability should also be a consideration for design since most slabs and foldables look identical to each other and the Fairphone is miles ahead of everything else in that regard.

I didn’t see the video as well, but environnemental impact or repairability would have been the top choice.

Edit: best battery maybe, since you can replace it.

      Sure, here you go:

In the “Smartphone Awards 2023!” YouTube video, the host highlights various categories of smartphones, starting with the best big phone, which is won by the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for its understated design, advanced hardware capabilities, software updates, and stylus support. The host also discusses the best small phones and folding phones, with the Asus Zenphone 10 being crowned the winner for its 5.9-inch display, competitive hardware, and elimination of previous nitpicks. The iPhone 15 Pro receives recognition for the best camera in a smartphone due to its total performance, ease of use, and excellent video quality. The Samsung Galaxy A54 is identified as the best value option, offering essential features at an affordable price without significant drawbacks. The presenter acknowledges the OnePlus Open as the best foldable phone due to its innovative design, nearly perfect square folding screen, and unique multitasking features.

There’s more, I wasn’t sure if it would be appropriate to paste the entire text in the comment’s section. So, I will leave a link here: https://www.summarize.tech/youtube.com/watch?v=JkRXhe3KaPE

An interesting exercise would be to summarise the summary from the website. I will see if sherpa or MLCchat can do the job.

Do you make your purchasing decisions based on these categories? Best camera, best battery etc.?

These categories need to be reworked.

No, but it’s not really the point of this video.
