4·3 months agoIndeed.
Reminds me of the Android Market
Play Storeand not being able to use PayPal back yonder and having to use a throwaway top-up, debit card if you wanted to buy apps. Ewww.e: the online Safety thing can suck my plums?

Yeah I was gonna say, Plex has a terrible UI and is why I stay away from that crap.
Jellyseerr thou is something even my less than tech savvy peeps I know just punch stuff into and making the Telegram channel make noises. I should really turn those notifications off.
https://docs.jellyseerr.dev/getting-started
tldr: searches metadata websites for movies and TV shows, and then adds thing to Jellyfin.
You can even then tell your *arrrr stack
to report things that succeed/fail to external services like Telegram.

What I do find weird is actually searching the Plex server I have access to for media

Like, I could? But what I like doing is abusing another family members fibre connection to request things for both of us, that then appears in their Jellyfin magically.
Yup.

I’ve got a box with two 2.5GbE ethernet ports incoming, but it only takes one 1GbE or 100 Mbps device before that to bottleneck it.

You only have to watch a couple of YouTube live streams…wait. Tomorrow I wait for age gating to see if Google is that…nefarious in stopping me watching YTP vids without a passport.

Dumping YT / gMaps / Google SSO etc and replacing them bit by bit is a hard vice to break, but I’ve got others using self hosted shit now (yay Immich and Jellyseerr arr…) and I’ll keep on doing it for others too.
Yeah @coles mentioned over on Matrix they’re aware of an issue with it and are looking into it.
Personally, I still just use catbox.moe for sharing images on here partially out of the worry of the hosting of memes going south :p

2·3 months agoObviously there’s not as many seeds for torrents as there is on the Clearnet, but recent uploads saw me getting reasonably decent speeds while some of the older torrents can take some time or be dead…just like the ones on the Clearnet.
There is something that while it doesn’t affect me here in the UK (yet…) there are issues with connectivity in certain dictatorships listed on their site
https://geti2p.net/en/about/restrictive-countries
Try it out, there’s even an Android app which I never really used and only have i2p on my server at home. Reading the reviews it seems to be hit and miss on a phone, and I should really give it a try sometime.

3·3 months agoNah, you run it over your existing ISP connection but set up an “i2p router” on a PC / laptop / server to connect to others on the i2p network.
Here’s a vid on some discussion about what it is
