      Last I heard biometrics were not protected. As in you have to unlock your phone upon request. A code, pattern or other thing you know was treated differently from using your body to unlock your phone.

        In my state, police aren’t allowed to use your fingerprint against you, but they can use facial recognition. It’s backwards and doesn’t make a ton of sense, but that’s the state of affairs.

      Android and iOS both have lockdown modes, on iOS it’s some key combination and on Android it’s in the power menu. That will disable unlocking with biometrics until you’ve logged in with your pin (or whatever else you’re using) once.

      Just power off the phone; most phones disable biometric logins in the initial unlock

      In Germany, biometrics are not passwords, so they aren’t protected. Might be how things are in the US as well
