I am planning to reinstall the OS on my ThinkPad T400, and I’d like to try using the Trinity desktop environment. Can you suggest some distributions that work well with TDE?

I would suggest starting here with whatever distro you’re most comfortable with
If it matters, most of the TDE development team use Debian or related distros, so if you have no other preference, Debian will probably get you the best support.
If you want to try a live image before committing, Q4OS and ExeGnuLinux both supply ISOs with TDE.
Like, just for playing around or for actual usage?
Maybe try some modern Desktop that is lightweight, or even something like Fwdora Hyprgreen?
