I have no idea what you’re on about. The fact that all of them did it means nobody did it out of specific stupidity, and that it was just very difficult to see it coming.

I’m also not sure it’s the fault of “creative” people. If people only visit closed systems like FB / Insta / Tiktok etc. are creatives to jist not post there? (In an ideal world obviously not but …)

As soon as you start calling yourself a “creative” you’ve lost the point.

I’m playing devil’s advocate here, but I’ve actually heard from old timers in the Internet business warning that this was an actual problem for influencers back in 2012, so some people saw it coming and who doesn’t deserve some blame for lack of risk management.

I agree, the ‘old timers’ are the people who have been on the internet since the beginning, warning the new boom of influencers about how they are still relevant on the internet for the last 20/30 years.

Especially with the way these companies positioned themselves. Google and Apple were the anti-Microsoft. Google even had the motto don’t be evil. Facebook was started by one of us! A hacker nerd dropout who loved open source. Of course he’s on our side!

It was not difficult to see where it was headed, even at the very beginning. It was just impossible to do anything about. When the majority of the common users only visit one site, and Google starts promoting that site above all others, burying relevant results, you have little choice but to put your stuff on that site. Matt (the guy who drew the cartoon) has been trying to migrate off of Facebook pretty much forever, but people don’t care.

If you produce content, you 100% control where that content goes.

            It’s unfair for to happen

This does not make what happened those people’s fault

Its the fault of the shitheads who run the sites and actually make those decisions

All these people are under the whims of the shitheads; these sites are intentionally manipulative, so realistically most don’t have a choice. The billionaires, however, do.

Creatives post they’re stuff anywhere and everywhere. It’s a lot of work. They are just trying to get by like the rest of us.

Justice is only one (overly simplistic) way of organising humans. It exists to discourage behaviour that harms others, but in my opinion it is way better to encourage people to do things for the better instead. Humans are cooperative creatures and a social order based entirely on tension is extremely unproductive.

And don’t get me wrong, a lot of things in society deserve to be criticised and discouraged. But dealing in absolutes and assigning blame to an entire group of people is almost always overly simplistic and won’t get you anywhere.

You think that’s unfair? Guess what, so do I

            They deserve no sympathy
