Hi I bought a pre owned steam deck and was wondering if I need to reflash steam os or is a factory reset safe enough as I didn’t know the guy I bought the steam deck from

    In theory a factory reset is enough. The only time it would not be if the pre onwer put a modified os on the device.

    So it just how paranoid are you? You can always grap a images from valve and reinstall the os. Just to be sure.

    I just sold one and did a factory reset which, as I understand with other devices, takes an image from onboard non volatile memory, wipes out the hard drive, and installs that image. That’s why after a factory reset you have to update all over again because that image is the original one that came with the device. You will be fine with a factory reset.
