Anyone else getting random freezes on Windows 11 on the Ryzen Framework 13? Very infrequent, but everything will just seize up. A literal freeze – no error, BSOD, etc.

Then maybe 1 minute later things will start working again. Cannot reproduce reliably and already tried reseating RAM

This happened to me three times on the first two weeks I got the laptop.

Every time I didn’t wait as you did and hard rebooted my framework.

It’s been two more week and it did not happen again (yet).

I saw it in the first day or so using my AMD FW. Not since… lately now I’ve been dealing with what I presume are graphics driver glitches… assuming/hoping it’s software issues that will get ironed out as the platform matures.

I had a similar issue, although i could reproduce it and it almost happend everytime i watched through the Plex App.

Then i uninstalled the AMD Radeon Graphics Driver using their remove/cleanup (AMD)utility and downloaded the driver through AMD and not from the bundle. Its a different version i guess. The frequent freezes have gone away for now (2 Days).

I had this as well did a firmware update on my SSD and it has been fine since (like a week or two now) Not sure if it was that or another driver but it seems happy and has been working great since.

I’ve had my Framework AMD 13 for about two weeks and had 3 hard lockups just like this. I have 2x16gb G.Skill Ripjaws 5600 CL40 and a Solidigm SSD. I’m running the latest BIOS and Windows 11. Already updated the AMD software, but will try uninstalling it and reinstalling from the AMD website. I’ll also check the SSD firmware to see if there is an update.

Last time it happened, the system froze for about 20 seconds then came back, so I immediately consulted the Windows Event Viewer thinking I might see something. The event log had no recent entries, so I went back to using Edge and about a minute later when I went to open a link in a new tab, it locked up for good. I waited about a minute, then hard powered it off.

I left it running the Windows RAM check tool overnight using the thorough mode and it detected no problems. I’ve been looking at all the event logs and haven’t found anything unusual. I hope this is a problem that software/firmware can fix!
