It’s not worth the price of admission. Games repeatedly don’t work. Hogwarts required I download windows c + + to play a triple title. Go to YouTube for a fix and it’s 20 plus moves and almost all comments say it didn’t work and they gave up. I’m doing this public service so another person who just wants to enjoy playing games on a $500 dollar piece of equipment.

    Definitely buy one if you want one, BUT remember it is quite a low spec device, running Linux and windows games through proton. Use Proton DB and help from the community ! Yet indeed, do not expect a full « console » approach, as even verified games might require tinkering. Edit : To be clear, I freaking love mine and consider it to be my main gaming device at this point.

    I’m using it to finally catch up on my backlog. So if you enjoy playing Fallout 4 on the couch (or wherever you want) the Deck is the way to go.

    If you want to play very recent AAA titles, idk man. I wouldn’t even trust my 500 bucks desktop PC to do that.

    That’s very strange i tested Hogwarts 2 mounts ago and had no issues, installation went without any input from me and after downloading had to just set the graphics settings. The only thing that required a lot of fiddling on my side was emudeck…

    What? I played Hogwarts when it first came out and it worked fine. I mean, it ran like ass but it loaded up without issue.

    I’m playing hogwarts, even with mods. Lol.

    Maybe you should learn how to navigate your device instead of this BS

      I got my refund. I already owned the game thru epic and I play a 49 ultra wide.

      The steam deck version was for my wife’s bday.

      Microsoft c ++ required.

      Not doing extra shit for a hand held

      It was outdated when it came out bud, it’s still a fantastic product though.

      • It’s competitively priced, being literally the lowest priced handheld PC on the market.

      • it runs on a development friendly platform; Arch is one of the leading Linux distributions.

      • although people can’t wrap their heads around it (somehow? Feel like it’s a lot of user error), it’s very user friendly.

      • Valve support is miles ahead of anything companies like Asus or Lenovo offer. Like, seriously good luck getting any kind of help with your product outside of it’s warranty if you went with a different company.

      • it outperforms most other hand helds at lower TDPs (under 10 watts in most cases)

    Played through the entire game on the deck. Didn’t need to do anything weird. Installed it and it worked the entire time.
