It was a dark beach illuminated only by the nearby town’s lights bouncing off of the clouds. All I had was my phone which clearly struggled with the darkness, but for me the nosiness and blur pick up something of the vibe of the place a clean and well exposed picture wouldn’t have.

    I like this shot.

    Anyone have basic tips for getting decent night shots with a phone?

      Well in this case I just tried to stay as still as I could and happened to like the graininess. It’s on an iPhone 11 FWIW, hand held. Most of the other shots I took came out similar. And it was a pretty dark beach.

        I’m wondering if there’s any common settings or filters that can make it just a little better in the moment. I doubt it can be made great or anything but sometimes every little bit helps
