His goalkeeping stats over the season so far would suggest that could be true. He’s certainly putting in a shift. Tops the league for save % and sweeper actions, and is showing an above average ability to stop shots. Quite remarkable considering it’s his first season.
The outfield signings like Maddison get all the attention, but Vic could be our signing of the season, especially in the next few games with our defence in tatters.
I always think of Brian Clough (I’m showing my age now) saying that Peter Shilton was worth 15 points a season, and so well worth the fee that Forest paid.
He rarely launches long balls because Ange demands always building from the back. But his ability with his feet, staying calm under pressure, and playing good short passes are all excellent. He does a lot of bounce passes with the defence to draw in the opposition and launch ‘false’ counter attacks.
@mike@coys@spurs The cherry on the cake is how little he cost. Most fans were howling for the £40m Raya and when Levy instead got Vic for £17m, we thought he’d done his classic penny-pincher move. But it turned out Ange wanted Vic over Raya after talking to them both. Vic passionately wanted Spurs whereas Raya just wanted out of Brentford. Ange hires for attitude and character as much as raw talent. He’s obviously quite a good judge!
The most astonishing thing about Alisson’s acquisision is that it came after Klopp had watched him concede five goals to #LFC in the Champions League! Smart to look past the scoreline. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW3H9hUE3wA
@hallenbeck@coys@spurs I’d need to watch the 90 minutes to have much chance of answering that. What I see NOW is extraordinary shot-stopping, superb control of the area, outstanding sweeping, comfort in possession, occasional magical long passes and even the odd goal! But I didn’t know any of that about him when he signed. (I’m glad we have people for that!)

@hallenbeck @coys @spurs Nice. Sounds like the complete modern keeper.

@hallenbeck @mike @coys @spurs I wouldn’t swap him for Ali but I did say he was your best summer buy
@ravipatel
He’s 5 years younger than Ali, so plenty of time to develop 😉
