YouTube Vanced shut down a year ago. I think it was quite popular for watching YouTube on Android. @newpipe looks like an interesting alternative.

@fibonaccital @newpipe There is always YouTube ReVanced - https://revanced.io/
@chris1223 @newpipe This also looks interesting I think: https://github.com/polymorphicshade/NewPipe It’s a fork of NewPipe which also has SponsorBlock implemented
@fibonaccital @newpipe YouTube ReVanced also has SponsorBlock. I like YouTube ReVanced because it’s just a patched YouTube app so it’s easy to know where everything is and looks just like it should.
@chris1223 @newpipe Yeah, I can see advantages with both of them.
On the one hand, I find it attractive with a standalone app that supports more platforms than YouTube. It’s open source, lightweight, and values privacy.
But as you say, it’s quite nice with the standard YouTube app, but just patched, so everything else remains the same. You can still log in, leave comments, access your YouTube playlists, you have your history on YouTube, YouTube’s recommendations, etc.
@fibonaccital @newpipe I have both installed and I use both of them for different things. It also helps if one of them quits working to have the other
@chris1223 @newpipe True, that’s smart!
