Maybe the title is misleading. I don’t know any Japanese, but using online translation, this is what you get from the original article:

Internet news sites have been reporting observations of the successor, but President Furukawa pointed out, “Rumors are circulating mainly on the Internet as if they were public information, but they are inaccurate.'”

This doesn’t negate anything, it just says the rumours are inaccurate, which is probably true in most cases. So this is just saying “rumours are just rumours”, it doesn’t mean there’s absolutely no truth in any of them. He then says (again, translated online):

He cited reports that Nintendo provided explanations about next-generation consoles to specific software makers in 2022 and that Nintendo demonstrated a new model at an overseas event in the summer of 2023, denying them as “untrue.”.

In this case I’d say even if these were true, calling them “untrue” doesn’t negate all of it absolutely, just that this is not exactly how it happened or whatever. Also take into account these are online translations so it might be that the sentences are even more vague in Japanese.

The Switch is losing steam, which is expected at its age, so it’ll be a matter of time. It’s obvious Nintendo has been working on their next thing for quite some time, as they always do, but we won’t know exactly what it is until anything official is said.
