We have fucking NAFTA and we could do so much economic development to export GHG emissions reductions to the US. The green tech industry is a massive employer and one of the biggest drivers of economic growth in China today, and we literally have a captive market that we can exploit to get the same economic growth driver in Canada.

IMO, reducing our top-line emissions is a lost cause. More than 80% of our electricity comes from clean sources. More than 50% of our emissions comes from O&G and transportation.

In a statement on the Commissioner’s report, the Official Opposition Conservatives concluded that the government’s “punitive plan won’t accomplish anything.”

The Conservatives criticized the fact that the plan doesn’t identify the emissions reductions expected from each policy. However, the party has not yet said what its own plan would entail.

On Monday, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre refused to say whether he would commit to Canada’s 2030 emissions reduction targets or the targets under the Paris Agreement.

As usual the Conservatives complain about what everyone else does without attempting any plan of their own. Canada is doing badly at emissions reduction, but the Conservatives would do even less, probably because that plays to their core voting base of the ignorant and selfish.
