In a new study, researchers induced mild, acute sleep deprivation in mice and then examined their behaviors and brain activity. Not only did dopamine release increase during the acute sleep loss period, synaptic plasticity also was enhanced — literally rewiring the brain to maintain the bubbly mood for the next few days.
Op (of article) never had insomnia… I literally used to be ready to kill myself at my insomnia peak. Being awake for more than 2 days… Laying in bed for 8 hours not sleeping. Smoking weed, melatonin, ibuprofen, Benadryl, lunesta sleeping pills… All that combined and ide still be awake all night…
It’s probably worse than regular depression.
I would go to work and just go through the motions barely knowing wtf was going on. Then everyone looks at you like you’re a tweaker…
Life sucks.
Well, the article does go into that. The effects of chronic sleep loss are well known as far as being detrimental is concerned, but the effects of acute sleep loss are less well known.
As someone who suffers from insomnia, I fucking wish I could reverse depression by not sleeping. Shit would be poggers.
At my peak is remember sitting in bed wishing I could kill myself. Like if I had a gun I wonder if I would have done it. I think my max is three days. Doctors wouldn’t give me meds that work because of my gender and age. They actually gave me an anxiety/depression med and eventually I looked up the side effect and one was insomnia.
If I recall correctly they may have given me like 3 benzos with no refill. While I was losing my life…
I was considering just buying Xanax off the street.
Eventually I got them to give me lunesta which is similar to ambian. Sometimes it didn’t work…
Sometimes ide wake up and would be a Zombie till 10 am not even knowing how I got to work.
It’s like cops… I had people stalk me and begged 3 different cops for help. One was a school resource officer… They either laughed or didn’t respond. America’s a joke.
