In Detroit, police brutalize and arrest protesters demonstrating against police brutality. Police case alleging protesters were conspiring to commit crimes collapses after police are unable to come up with a single instance proving it. But the accusation of conspiring to commit a crime is splashed all over the press. Meanwhile the unprovoked assault and battery cases against the police who beat the anti-police brutality protesters slowly percolates through the legal system and will doubtless end in a large cash settlement paid by taxpayers.

There are thousands of cases every year of people being arrested and the only charge against them is resisting arrest.

From some things I’ve heard, a lot of “resisting arrest” cases didn’t even involve people physically resisting, but rather arguing verbally that they didn’t do anything wrong or even simply asking what they were being arrested for.
