    Hearing protection has classifications for noise reduction levels, with class 5 being the highest. So anything in each category will give the same noise reduction performance. After that, it’s just individual choice what you find more comfortable, earplugs or earmuffs. If using earplugs, they need to be inserted properly to be effective, earmuffs are less fussy. However, if it is a workplace, employer should be providing appropriate noise controls and hearing protection.
