An overwhelming majority of 86% of respondents, including 79% of coalition supporters, said the surprise attack from Gaza is a failure of the country’s leadership.

So then every country that exiled and mass murdered Jewish people is to blame. Because Israel exists because of that.

I also wonder why no one addresses personal responsibility anymore. When people talk about Nazi Germany it’s all “every individual who didn’t actively go against the Nazi is one”. Why isn’t the same said about Hamas and the Palestinians?

No, the Israeli government literally opposed the alternative Palestine parties which wanted peace and intentionally created space for Hamas. This is the personal responsibility specifically of Bibi Netanyahu himself, and of those who supported him.

In addition, the median palestinian was 1 years old when Hamas was elected and around 50% are under 18. Personal responsibility for who?

So you also feel like the soldiers during Nazi reign aren’t responsible when they didn’t vote the Nazi party?

Excusing the atrocities Hamas committed and Palestinians and pro-Palestinian protesters are celebrating in countries all over the world, all with an increase in anti-semitic attitudes in public and schools, I see on Lemmy at well. It’s a “They made me do it!” excuse that’s just disgusting to see. I can’t believe so many people forget their supposed tolerance when Jewish people are killed or exiled. And that’s a constant throughout history.

You have people on Lemmy with dozens of upvotes openly showing they do not care one bit for everyone who isn’t Palestinian. They advocate for Jews to be at least exiled again, it’s disheartening.

Nobody here was excusing atrocities, but you’re putting blame on people who are helpless and not just the enablers and supporters.

Nobody made Hamas do it, but on the other hand the Israeli government absolutely wants an enemy and therefore supported their growth, so BOTH sides are at fault and responsible for war crimes as they’re both killing innocents including children in brutal ways. Anybody supporting either government is wrong, anybody supporting either attack is wrong, it is just the innocent civilians on both sides who should be supported.

You’re attacking the wrong people and the wrong things for the wrong reasons. Look at why the conflict exists in the first place and fight the reasons for why it continues instead.

People here are excusing atrocities all the time. “Israel made them do it and Israelis are colonizers who should just leave”, “Palestinians are not Hamas, it’s actually Israel who created Hamas” is the common theme of the supporters here.

A reason for the conflict regularly ignored by people on Lemmy is that Hamas and many Palestinians and many other Muslim groups are anti-semitic. They also ignore that the people in Israel aren’t colonizers or invaders.

Most Palestinians have no interest in sharing the place with Israelis because most of Israelis are Jews. They are celebrating the violence because of it. And they certainly won’t stop killing and attacking if Israel would stop doing it.

If you read up about it, and not only the one-sided Palestinian blogs and propaganda, you can easily see that Palestinians aren’t better than Israelis. Actually they are worse since Israel tried to allow Palestinians in their country as citizens with voting rights etc. multiple times, something a Palestine would certainly not. But since Palestinians were the side that lost and got victimised and now oppressed, people jump to ignore the aspects they find uncomfortable for their headcanon.

They are ignoring these and other historic and current dynamics because otherwise Palestinians would be less perfect victims.

It would make the situation more complicated than a black and white issue. And people hate that. Almost like they can only support Palestinians when Israelis are evil.

I see you haven’t read about the history of how the Israeli government deliberately choose to create that situation bet deliberate cruelty and by undermining the party which wanted peace

The government of Israel has literally helped fund Hamas to keep Palestinian people divided, they have admitted as much. Being against a government like that, that has committed atrocities for decades, and supporting the victims of these atrocities, the Palestinian people, is not antisemitism. I support the Jewish people, I have kindness and love for people of all sorts, and think that the slaughter of thousands of innocent people in their homes in response to a terror attack is wrong.
