Sadly you can’t explain MAID’s corruption to most Americans. It’s blatantly just genocide of the poor, sadly if you try to explain that to an American they think you’re just listening to a Right Wing or Religious group “Lying about Canada’s healthcare system to scare us!”
Hell I’ve heard of Doctors straight up telling people they’re “Being selfish for not signing up for MAID!”, at this point it just feels like Canada doesn’t care and would rather just straight up kill the poor.
Something the American Right would salivate at the chance to do.
This is actually a big reason why there are so many opponents of the MAID law.
Too many people with disabilities are taking the euthanasia option simply because, they don’t have any way to live.
Which is simply despicable euthanasia has to be chosen, a sign of a broken system all the way around.
A friend of a family member just used MAID to get out of economic depression, so it’s absolutely a thing that happens.
