It’s a Halloween movie. Christmas is featured, but the majority of the movie is focused on Halloween taking over Christmas

Well, as any star wars fan can tell you, sometimes it doesn’t matter what the director/creator says. They’re wrong.
Good news, he’s not the director, and it’s debatable if he’s the creator. He had some drawings, and others did all the work to create.
He is wrong. It is the nightmare BEFORE Christmas, so it is a Christmas EVE movie.

As a resident of Canada this weekend is literally Thanksgiving weekend.
