Is there a single place in the world where democracy is improving? It sure seems like we’re all slowly backsliding together.

Democracy can only last so long while capitalism is allowed to twist and control the minds of the people in it, and the current generation of rich people who control the lobbyists and voter information being sent have realized that an authoritarian hard right democracy favors them as it is in conflict with itself and creates something for the voters to focus on that’s not regulating excess wealth or regulating the manipulation of fair and free elections by a rich few.

Cuba, Vietnam, Laos. At the local and province level in China.

West Africa, assuming the provisional government actually holds elections

What kind of democracy can you possibly have when you’re a glorified military base for the world’s most violent and most authoritarian world order in history.

South Korea was overtly a puppet dictatorship until the mid 80s, now their military is still subordinate to US pacific command.

Why are we worried about “eroding democracy” when South Korea is a construct of the USA explicitly created to stop the self determination of the Korean people in order to defeat anti-capitalist ideology?
