Hi bees. I recently was looking around for info about hip growth and hrt, and read that it may happen, but even if then not really noticible. However for like a week now I feel my hips hurt, like substencialy and they give me trouble walking, stadning and stuff and even sleeping. And I am almost sure it is growth. But isnt it too painful? Should it be that way, and can I ease it somehow?
Edit:
I have noticed that when I walk and sway my hips more it is less painful to walk, but it takes getting used to
Thanks in advace :3
Any and all concerns about medical issues can and should be directed at your doctor! They’re the only ones with enough info and qualifications to comment upon this.
Hip growth as a response to feminizing HRT can and does happen in younger patients. Hips don’t set completely until the early 20s, so if you’re starting HRT at or before then, you can experience both hip growth and your hips shifting in position. Heating pads and anti-inflammatories might help. Be sure not to push yourself too much if you’re in pain, and as I already mentioned talk with your doctor if you’re worried about the pain level.
I am 20 now and started my hrt at 19 and I am 7.5 months in. Also to what doctor should I go? Coz idk which one would help with this issue the best
Are you DIY HRT or was it prescribed by a doc? If it was prescribed by a doctor, that’s who you should go to. If you’re DIY, that’s a more difficult question, but you should find a trans competent doctor.
I have it prescribed
This is likely to be your pelvic tilt. As you go through female puberty, your pelvis gradually tilts position in a way that gives you a more feminine gait and makes your butt look great. It hurts like a removed but goes away eventually and leaves you looking fine. Your hips aren’t likely to hurt as they widen, and it’s unlikely that the bones will change at all. You will gain more fat in those areas though, so you’ll still look the way you want to.
even if I am 20 bones wont change?
I’ve heard some unsubstantiated claims that hips can widen a tiny bit at that age. It’s not worth measuring though. You will pass
I hope I will pass, and Id hope they can grow some amount. That would make me look more fem as shoulders wouldnt look as wide then
Focusing on those details will drive you to insanity. Be patient with yourself. You will be okay. This process just takes time.
I transitioned when I was 23. Now I’m 27. I never get misgendered. HRT is magic, and your dress, makeup, and behavior dictate your passing more than your body shape. Trust me on this.
I mean I already pass sometimes, and I still have facial hair. But I full transitioned socialy, so the clothes and behavior plus confidence may be helping. However I am still selfconcious :c
It takes time to get over those feelings. I find it helps to remember that most people are very self-centered and in their own little world. They’ll take anything they can get to confirm whatever they assumed about your gender. Let’s say you’re androgynous but wearing a skirt and have long hair. They’ll see someone with a skirt and long hair from behind. You turn around, and your face is feminine and maybe wearing makeup. OK, there’s some confirmation, definitely a woman. Then you open your mouth to speak. Your voice training has been going great and you sound lovely. Even more confirmation. They’re not looking at your shoulders. They will actively ignore any peach fuzz or facial hair, because that can happen to cis women. They’ll even ignore narrow hips and small underdeveloped boobs. Because they already got confirmation of your gender, they don’t want to spend any more effort thinking about it, and will move on as fast as they can.
I am not sure about that, especialy that I am a long way from getting fem voice and no they do not ignore facial hair, like 90% dont, and when I try to present fem they still call me mister when they see or hear me
You will, don’t worry. I started at 36 and feel like I pass for everything except my voice.
I hope so
My hips have also been hurting for about a year or so and I’m 2 years on HRT. I didn’t know that it might be caused by HRT. Do you mean the skeleton itself widens? Do you have any additional reading I could look into on this topic?
I’m also taking medication for ADHD which causes muscle tension and dehydration so my calves are always so tight and I get charlie horses like crazy but that’s something else entirely… lol I just mean my entire lower half is in bad shape but I’d love to know if my hips are something I can fix or at least alleviate some of the aching.
well, I forgot where I found such info but it is still quite a drbated and unsetled issue about the hips. From what I have read it can widen the pelvis itslef if one is young enough, however with varied reasults. And I feel it is not a muscle pain, so it may or may not be the bone doing something
I’m definitely feeling joint and muscle pain, and it could be skeletal too but I’m not sure. I started HRT at 36 years old so I’m probably too old for what you’re describing.
from sources I read it is, most claimed max 25
and about the pain, I am looking for some help about it as I have no idea if it can be lessend and how much
i think this is relatively normal and probably the pelvic tilt thing the other poster mentioned. i checked with a transfemme friend and she told me the biggest thing she did was get a new chair that worked with how her body wanted to sit now. she also tries to get up and stretch / walk around more often
aside from those things, you can take over the counter painkillers or try heat on the area, but some of it will just be riding it out, i think
how does it tilt tho? Like I cant really visualise what is happening there
i think this picture is a reasonably good illustration of what’s going on https://imgur.io/rsUha?r
