friendly reminder that badly behaving dogs are the fault of shitty owners who can’t be arsed to train them properly.

Almost any dog can, without great trouble, be trained to follow basic commands and actually enjoy their lives rather than being vibrating masses of anxiety.

Bark collars are mean I guess, maybe, but so is depriving an entire neighborhood of peace and rest. At that point the bark collar is much lesser of two evils. There’s zero excuse to allow a dog to bark all day and night in a residential area.

sure, but that’s not tremendously relevant as that’s only a tiny subsection of dogs.
Most dogs are perfectly mentally healthy (aside from the abuse they’re subjected to by lack of training by the owner) and bringing up mentall illness just looks like you’re trying to make an excuse which is kind of gross frankly.

        Train your fucking dogs.

The venn diagram of people who buy small dogs and the people who can’t be bothered to train them is a circle.

yeah, sadly people pretty much only buy small dogs because they don’t have to train them to make sure they don’t kill people, since they’re too small to do much damage…

Like people think chihuahuas are just inherently neurotic, but no it’s just that no one fucking trains a chihuahua and just treats it like a decoration.

My parents’ Chihuahua literally can’t. She has Addison’s disease.

She starts having seizures when my dad is gone for too long because she can’t handle the stress.

This is certainly true, but, also, some dogs - like vets - have been traumatized and associate explosions with incoming violence. We have a staffy that spends about half of July and the first and last weeks of the year gorked up because she will literally retreat to the basement and begin digging a hole through the floor.
