Going by the quality of GPU and prices they have been launching at, I’d wager there is a secret agreement between Nvidia and AMD.

5 years ago they would try to give better value with each generation, faster cheaper and more available. That competition got us the gems like gtx970, gtx1060, rx480/590 and rx5700.

Now we have to choose between overpriced or nerfed hardware like 4050, rx6500, 4070ti or 7700xt.

It’s not a secret agreement. The fact that they’re effectively a duopoly (Intel I guess makes GPUs now), price gouging is as easy as copying the already successful competitor (AMD copying nVidia).

No need for price fixing agreements.

Yeah they both probably outsource the pricing model too third party ai company. that comes up with the best price for them. Good chance they both use the same comapny as well and since they both use the same company it’s like non active price fixing. Also it makes it so they can say it’s not them

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The chipmaker is reportedly suspected of committing anticompetitive practices in the graphics cards sector.

The French Competition Authority didn’t disclose the name of the company on which it conducted the raid.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that sources familiar with the matter claimed that it was Nvidia.

“Such dawn raids do not pre-suppose the existence of a breach of the law which could be imputed to the company involved in the alleged practices, which only a full investigation into the merits of the case could establish, if appropriate,” wrote the French Competition Authority in the report.

According to WSJ, dawn raids consist of the authorities showing up early in the morning to confiscate a company’s physical and digital materials.

Nvidia’s latest financial results show that the company pulled in $13.5 billion in revenue, a whopping 101% improvement from last year.

The original article contains 275 words, the summary contains 141 words. Saved 49%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
