Stopping by for a life update because it’s been a while.

    • PhD is submitted and I’m in limbo for now
    • still very overworked
    • my worst fears have been realised. the three (3) pear trees that are in the front and back yard at this house are, indeed, the cum variety
    • I’m reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built this weekend and it’s such a fucking delight. One of the best things I’ve read all year, and I’ve read over 40 books now.
    spoiler

What’s new with you guys. I’ve missed you ❤️

Hearty congratulations on the PhD, I’ve missed seeing you around! Boo re: overwork though.

The cum trees are a menace. If I were you I’d don a face mask and gloves and try and strip out the flowers, that’s how vindictive I am…

Aaand the photographer rocked up 2 hours early, and apparently the brides make up artist is an hour late aaand we’ve the booked the cab too late even though it’s going to be early.

Fuck this noise if I meet the right someone it’s just going to be at the BDM and take about 5 minutes.

Oooh bro’s big wedding day. Did the flowers make it through the night in the venues cold room?

Just dropped last night that they’re coming around for photos in the garden (!) and need nibbles heh. Honestly this better be the last surprise.

And across Thornbury, a massed chorus of lawnmowers are singing the song of their people. I plan to do mine during the GF next weekend, heh heh heh. I am evil.

Maybe . . . just maybe, if neo-nazi’s are coming out to support your side of the debate . . . you might actually be one of the baddies.

Yes… for those who want to vote No… look at who else is voting No. That should be enough to tell you which way to vote.

Today’s abc rn programme The Philospher’s Zone discusses exactly this topic. Not the Yes/No vote, the phenomenon of exactly this scenario. today’s podcast Robert Girard was indeed prescient.

I love how the communities have grown on Aussie zone but I wish there was a food one. Get some ideas what to cook because that’s my favourite part of the DT.

Making it would take me moments. Want to mod it?

What would you call it? I kept our TV and Music communities deliberately Australian. Someone in the USA looking for a “music” community is never going to find /c/rage. Do you want to do something similar or would you call it something that will attract International engagement?

I would call it Food Australia. I don’t know the first thing about moderating. I have trouble working out my TV control. Could I mod from my phone? What would moderating entail? I had trouble starting the dt before Bot #1 arrived. Like seriously 5 year olds know more than me.

Ok, !foodaustralia exists. Go make a post in it!

As to how to mod, it’s pretty easy. Find a picture/icon you want to give it. Optional: Make up some rules or write up some sort of explanation for what the Community is for.

You can do this from a browser on your phone, but I don’t think any of the apps have this feature. I recommend doing this from a large screen if possible. As for day-to-day modding, those requests are super rare. I get reports that any Aussie.zone user makes for any community in the fediverse (or any user at all makes for an aussie.zone post) and that amounts to maybe 2-3 spam posts per day. Usually for a kbin post. In short, you won’t likely have any reports to worry about. I never get reports against local people.

    Assignment update: need more coffee

Edit: coffee aquired. Unfortunately it refuses to write my assignment for me and I still need to do it myself.

If only coffee was so wondrous it could do that.

It can do a lot of things but sadly not that :(

Unless you fall into a coffee hysteria and start getting the jitters.

I have fallen in to the too much coffee trap before, and only allow myself more than my initial morning dose in exceptional circumstances. Fortunately the extra jitteryness of the caffeine seems to have worked and I managed to plough through the rest of the assignment. I might do a quick review before I submit it this evening, but I can now relax. Just in time for my next subject to start tomorrow!
