Reddit has taken center stage after its users organized to game the stock market. But is taking financial advice from strangers online actually a good idea?
I disagree, short selling isn’t necessarily worse than other parts of the stock market. It’s not making money off misfortune, it’s making money of being critical if a company actually should be as highly valued as it is. It does prevent some fraud and bubbles like housing bubbles I think.
But of course what happened here was dumb and it’s great that the hedgefunds were punished.
Not saying that short selling is great, I don’t like the stock market in general, Imo the whole stock market can be abolished for a better system, idk.
