The gameplay was much better in the USFL, but the XFL was able to get more fan support at their games (possibly because the USFL played the majority of their games in Birmingham, which meant the only games where fans showed up were Birmingham Stallions games.
Year 1 was 100% in Birmingham. Year 2 was 4 hubs, but the “Pittsburgh” hub was really in Canton a full 100miles away and deep into the catchment area for two rivals of the Steelers, so really only 3 of 8 teams had any possibility for local fans.

The first year of the USFL was real bad. I think I the XFL would get better with consistency too. But I think this will be better for both leagues.
