Why can’t the chapter parts just be combined instead of these odd half-length works that end so unsatisfactorily?

Recently discovered this series and have enjoyed it. It has plugged the hole that the end of Kanojo mo Kanojo left. The “twist” in chapter 1 is obvious, but the real twist comes in chapter 2.
