It depends on the medication, some are completely free and for some you have to pay bit more than that. Another example are some more expensive meds that are not covered by insurance at all, you will pay full price (it can be a lot), but paying 10€ a month for extra insurance will cover most of them.

Australia has universal health care for 2% (most people) to 3.5% (a surcharge for higher earners).
