Chinese electric vehicles pose “a real threat” to the European car industry, according to Christian Kames, managing director at financial advisory firm Lazard.

Around 40% of the presenters at the IAA Mobility Conference in Munich are from Asia, while the number of Chinese companies in attendance has more than doubled compared to last year.

“I don’t think we are still at the stage where they underestimate the Chinese,” Kames said.
As long as chinese cars pass local saftey regulations and arent as bad inteoduction wise as Vinfast (whose western introduction to the market was abysmal) they’ll do fine. The key is the UX, and if BYD repeats what vinfast did pushing a vehicle out the door too early, its going to be a bad time.
