By saying “you don’t give a shit about privacy or security” you’re making a judgement about the person you’re speaking to without knowing anything about them. It’s not just an accusation, it’s done in a hostile way. Please be nice on this instance, repeated behavior will result in mod actions.

“Anyone who uses an iPhone doesn’t give a shit about privacy or security.” There you go.

          You said:

you’re making a judgement about the person you’re speaking to

My rephrasing makes no such assumptions. It is a general statement, and as someone who works in digital forensics, it’s one I stand by. Anyone who cares about their privacy or security will run screaming from the Apple ecosystem.

You replied directly to someone who was asking for an iPhone app. To make the conclusion that they may be an iPhone user is not a huge leap of logic.

It’s not about whether the statement is true or not, it’s about treating another user in a hostile way. It’s about how your comment is likely to be perceived by the person on the other side of the screen.

For the record, I thought the checkbox for removing content would only apply to the comment I was attempting to remove and apply the ban for. I wanted to leave it all up, but don’t really have the ability to revert.

Anyhow, fixing the ban so it’s sitewide for 3 days.
